What Composio does

Composio provides pre-authenticated toolkits that agents can use to take action across many apps.
Composio scopes sessions to individual end users, with OAuth, API keys, and tokens refreshed automatically.
Composio gives sessions meta tools that discover, authenticate, and execute app tools at runtime, so agents avoid loading hundreds of tool definitions.
Composio exposes every session as a hosted MCP endpoint that Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client can use.
Composio triggers let agents subscribe to events from toolkits, such as new Gmail messages or Linear issues.
Composio offers a sandbox pre-wired with the user's connected accounts for running arbitrary code.

How it works

You create a Composio client with a provider adapter, create a session for a user ID, and pass the session's tools to your agent. You can store the session ID and reuse it with composio.use() across turns. Alternatively, pass mcp: true and point an MCP client at session.mcp.url. The composio CLI runs tools from your shell for coding agents like Claude Code.

First steps

Get a COMPOSIO_API_KEY from the Composio dashboard settings page.

The @composio/core package ships TypeScript source and docs, which makes the install larger. @composio/slim is the smaller alternative.
The Pi provider is experimental and ships from @composio/experimental.
